John Allan – Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Director
John has been with us longer than he cares to remember, and is the senior small animal practitioner at Vet Services. He has been servicing our Southland community with expertise and empathy for the past 30 odd years. He is a very experienced small animal surgeon and widely knowledgable about all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery. In his spare time John enjoys spending time in his boat fishing and is also a very enthusiastic DIY'er!

Martha Hogan – Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Director
Martha joined the practice in 1990 after qualifying with a Veterinary Degree from Massey University. A highly capable and practical veterinarian, she was a hit with local farmers and proceeded to service the large animal sector of the practice for the next fourteen years. In 2005 she made a change in direction to begin practicing predominantly in small animals, although she can still be seen out on the farm servicing our deer and equine clients. She manages the work-life balance admirably and is kept extremely busy in her spare time being a mum to her three sons as well as being involved with horseback hunting, cycling and pilates.

Catherine Watson - Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Director
Catherine graduated and started work here in 2000 as a mixed, though largely small animal, vet. She left in 2002 for her OE, but just couldn’t stay away so returned in 2006, becoming a shareholder in 2008. Her interest is primarily small animals and especially ultrasonic imaging. She is currently working towards her Masters. Outside of work you’ll likely see her out running, biking, swimming or kayaking with husband Phil, and on occasions at home in the garden with Willow the cat.

John Doody - Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon
John Doody is a born and bred Irish man turned Kiwi and has been with us since 2007. John is one of our senior large animal veterinarians but is also a very competent mixed animal vet. If he is not out working hard on the field, he can be found helping in both surgery and small animal consultations.

Merlyn Hay - Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Merlyn came to us in 2003 and in 2006 left to do her OE. Even though she had an awesome time overseas she just couldn't stay away, returning to help with both small and large animals in 2009. Merlyn is a great asset to the team and is also another of our senior large animal veterinarians. In her spare time she enjoys riding her horse, bike riding and hanging out with her dog Tamsin who may also be quite familiar to clients as the dog running around the back of the clinic.

James L'Amie - Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Graduating from Massey University in 2009 James started with us in January 2010. Coming from Auckland he has taken on the challenge of adapting to life in the deep south with relish. He has a keen interest in production animal medicine. In his spare time this young bachelor is kept busy with his 2 dogs "Tui" and his newest edition "Orson" a Leonberger.

Kristen is our newest Vet to join the team, hailing from Florida, USA. Kristen is working in both the small and large animal areas and has special interest in exotic pets.

Nicky Taylor - Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Nicky moved to NZ from the UK and started with us 2010. Nicky helps cover our weekend work but occasionally will be seen in the clinic during the weekdays. Her special interests are dog agility and is currently the Vice President and Agility Co-ordinator at the Southland Dog Training club. She is a keen competitor and competed in many events. She owns 2 dogs Pecan and Kea.

Brenda Strang – Vet Nurse
Brenda joined the team in 2001 after qualifying as a vet nurse from SIT. She is our most experienced vet nurse and her duties involve stock ordering and equipment maintenance. A very efficient and competent nurse she contributes enormously to the smooth running of our small animal hospital. Out of work Brenda is kept busy with her Golden Retriever "Mitchell" and her cat "Sam".

Melissa Shuttleworth – Vet Nurse
Mel joined the team in 2007 after finishing her two year diploma of vet nursing at SIT. A valuable asset to the team she is a highly skilled and efficient vet nurse and is particularly good at gaining the confidence of difficult or nervous dogs. Mel also runs our popular puppy pre school program with another of our vet nurses. Mel is currently completing a post graduate certificate in Veterinary Nursing Technician. In her spare time she is kept busy with two children and plays competitive netball during the winter season. Mel also owns 3 cats and dog Tess which is her "SPCA Special".

Holly Fisher – Vet Nurse
Holly joined our team in 2007 after finishing her two year diploma of vet nursing through SIT. She is a highly skilled and enthusiastic vet nurse with a special interest in paediatrics and anaesthesia. She also runs our popular puppy pre school program with another of our vet nurses. Out of work she is kept busy by her young daughter and her pedigree Rhodesian Ridgebacks Flame and Hermione.

Maddie is our Junior Vet nurse joining us in 2010 after completing her two year diploma of vet nursing at the Southern Institue of Technology. Maddie owns two cats Louie an exotic and Winston a persian/ragdoll. |

Delwyn Thompson - Practice Manager
Delwyn has been with the practice for many years. Although she is a qualified vet nurse, Delwyn's role in the clinic is as our practice manager. Her experience in the veterinary industry makes her invaluable in ensuring we are correctly stocked and in answering any product queries you may have. She is also actively involved in the day to day office management of the clinic.
Delwyn is kept very busy in her spare time with her four young boys, Dug the dog, "Mr Thompson" the cat, and just recently some pet lambs.

Amy Crofts - Receptionist/Stock Management
Amy started with us in May 2008. She is one of our two receptionists and is also involved with stock management and is often seen with her order pad in hand making sure our stock is up to date. Out of work she is a keen horse rider and enjoys exercising her Jack Russell "Sammy".

Aroha Ryan - Accounts
Aroha started with us in 2010 taking charge of our Accounts Department enjoying each challenge as it comes. Aroha spends her spare time with her two young boys. Aroha also has 2 young cats (adopted from the SPCA) and a young dog "Spot".

Glenise Thomas - Office Administration
Glenise started with us back in 2000, before trying a new adventure in 2007 it saw her return back to us in 2011. Glenise spends her spare time with her 4 lovely grandchildren, she also enjoys the great outdoors.

Maureen Jenkins - Reception (Riverton)
Maureen is the long serving receptionist out at our Riverton clinic and will certainly be a familiar face to our Riverton clients. Maureen is an expert on all things Riverton and she also ensures that the Riverton stock is kept up to date and organizes the Tuesday and Friday small animal clinics. Out of work she is kept very busy with her grandchildren, two active dogs and is involved in the Riverton community.

Darren has recently joined us in a brand new role within the clinic. He comes to us from Lawrence after Sheep and Beef farming for the last 18years. Darren has a keen interest/knowledge in all aspects of the farming industry. He has come to Invercargill with his partner and his 2 daughters.

Tegan Sutherland - (Part-time Receptionist)
Tegan has recently joined us after completing her Vet Nursing Certificate at Otago Polytechnic. She covers the front desk in the afternoons. In her spare time she enjoys Trapshooting and also represented NZ in this event. Tegan has a dog "Abby" and 2 cats "Jigger" and "Holly".

Georgina Galloway - (Kennel Assistant)
