Our Equipment

A vet hospital is very similar to a human hospital. We require the same equipment used by radiologists, ultrasonographers, dentists, orthodontists, pathologists, opthalmologists, dermatologists and surgeons including orthopaedic surgeons. We regularly invest in upgrading our equipment to provide your pet with the latest in veterinary medicine. Here are just some of the things you will find at our practice.

Autoclave

An autoclave is used to sterilise surgical instruments. These instruments are largely the same as those used in human surgery. Our instruments and drapes are put through a cleaning and sterilising process after each use. Only the vet is permitted to touch these once they are sterile.

Dental Scaler
Ultrasonic scalers vibrate at a frequency that breaks down bacterial cell membranes and as such, because the bacteria are what make the plaque and calculus stick, the ultrasonic scaler removes a lot of both plaque and calculus. Once the plaque has been removed, the dental procedure is then finished off by polishing your pet’s teeth.

Pathology Laboratory

We are able to perform various pathology tests such as blood and urine tests using our diagnostic equipment. This allows us to provide faster diagnosis and treatment. For more detailed testing we use the services of a specialist laboratory when required.

Blood Pressure Measurements

The measurement of an animal's blood pressure (BP) has a wide range of applications in veterinary medicine. BP measurement is clinically significant in the early diagnosis of a variety of diseases, monitoring of patients, during anaesthesia and also when certain medications are being used. The BP device allows our team to easily measure your pet's blood pressure whilst they are awake and causes very little stress to most pets.

Radiography Machine

Radiographs or x-rays are a non-invasive way for us to look at tissues, bones and organs. Patients must stay very still while having an x-ray taken. This means many of our patients are given a sedation or general anaesthetic. Once taken, the film is processed and dried so that our veterinarians can make a diagnosis or request further testing.

Automatic Radiography Processor
The automatic processor is an essential piece of equipment in our x-ray department. The automatic processor reduces film processing time when compared to manual development by a factor of four.

Ultrasound Machine

An ultrasound is a device that emits sound waves of extremely high frequency so that an image can be displayed. Ultrasound is a valuable diagnostic tool as it is non-invasive and we can use it to examine most body systems such as a patient’s heart and all of the abdominal contents. An ultrasound can also be used to confirm if a patient is pregnant.

Incubator
Our incubator is used to administer oxygen to patients in both chronic and acute cases. Oxygen therapy is used to benefit the patient by increasing the supply of oxygen to the lungs and thereby increasing the availability of oxygen to the body tissues, especially when the patient is suffering from shock or any other breathing difficulties.
