 Ultrasound Minimize

Ultrasound is a non-invasive way of having a look inside the body, especially the abdomen and the chest. It is generally complimentary to x-rays, as it is particularly good when there is a lot of fluid present, but not so good when there’s a lot of gas.

Echocardiography: Ultrasound is remarkably good at giving us more information about heart disease and means we can optimise treatment to the cause of the disease, not just the symptoms. It allows us to look at the chambers of the heart as well as the vessels and valves within and around the heart too.

Abdominal Ultrasound: There are multiple uses of ultrasound within the abdomen, particularly when we want more information before going to surgery. It can help us look for sites of tumour spread in the case of cancers, or even to identify where the cancer is. It will allow us to look inside organs such as the intestines or bladder which even at surgery we can’t easily assess. It’s also great for detecting pregnancy and reproduction problems very early on.

Small Parts: Ultrasound can be used for looking at a range of small parts such as tendons, eyes, lymph nodes etc.

 Radiography Minimize

X-rays are a great non-invasive way of having a look inside the body. They can be used on any body part:

Bones: fantastic for looking for fractures, joint problems such as arthritis or dislocations, sinus and tooth problems, spinal problems etc. Short of using very expensive imaging such as CT scans and MRI’s, x-rays are by far the cheapest and best way of viewing bones.

Chests: X-rays are great for looking for a range of problems within the chest such as lung problems, heart disease and even for looking at the oesophagus.

Abdomen: In animals with a reasonable amount of fat, we can get quite a bit of information about the different abdominal organs, particularly the size and shape of them.

 ECG & Endoscopic Exams Minimize

ECG: the machine is used to look at the electrical rhythm of the heart and can be very useful to detect arrhythmias. This is usually performed without any sedation as it is not painful to the animal, yet in specific cases can help yield some very important information as to how the messages are getting through in the heart – or not as the case may be! This machine is also commonly used during surgery to help detect problems with the anaesthetic.

Endoscopy: This is a fibre optic scope that allows us to look at the inner lining of the upper gastrointestinal tract and colon without going to surgery. It can be helpful to look for foreign bodies, ulcers etc or for taking biopsies of the intestinal tract.

 Blood Pressure Monitoring Minimize

The measurement of an animal's blood pressure (BP) has a wide range of applications in veterinary medicine. BP measurement is clinically significant in the early diagnosis of a variety of diseases, monitoring of patients, during anaesthesia and also when certain medications are being used. The BP device allows our team to easily measure your pet's blood pressure whilst they are awake and causes very little stress to most pets.

 Infectious Disease Facilities Minimize

Our isolation facilities are well equipped for cats and dogs. The isolation room is well separated from the rest of the clinic and has all of its own equipment to ensure that infectious agents are not spread through out the clinic.

We have special isolation procedures in place to ensure the care of infectious patients is of the highest standard, while maintaining the safety of other animals being treated in other areas of the clinic.
